Details: HSE First Aid at Work Forestry Course – FAW+F A HSE Approved 3 day course that complies with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Approved Code of Practice L74 guidelines for qualifications of workplace First Aiders, AFAG402, AFAG802 & INDG294 recommendations. This course provides delegates with a basic training in first aid & add-on elements for our special hazards (eg severe chainsaw cuts, strangulation suspension, major penetration injuries, crush injuries, hypothermia, Lyme disease). Who Should Attend? Where an employer has carried out a risk assessment and identified a need for a fully qualified First Aider, a person should be nominated for training in accordance with HSE guidance and legal obligations. Also the guidance of the HSE AFAG402, AFAG802 & INDG294 recommendations. Individuals that want or require training for personnel or professional development should also attend the 3 day First Aid at Work Forestry course. Potential First Aiders Should: * Possess an aptitude to absorb knowledge and skills * Be able to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures * Have duties in a workplace that do not prevent them going to an emergency Course Content: * Aims and Principles of First Aid * Prevention of cross-infection during first aid procedures * Basic Life Support (CPR) * Management of the unconscious casualty * Assessment and treatment of a casualty who is wounded, bleeding or in shock * How to deal with burns, poisoning and eye injuries * Assessment and treatment of common major and minor illnesses, including fractures, dislocation, head injuries, epilepsy and diabetes * Managing asthma attacks and choking * Legal aspects of first aid at work - record keeping and use of equipment Specialised First Aid elements for forestry workers
